Setup for artists begins at 1:00 pm
Plein Air – Newlin Grist Mill
This park, just off route 1, is on the site of an 18th century grist mill. On one side of the road are the old buildings from the 1700s. On the other side with the parking lot there are woods, and a system of old canals that carried the water to the mill and are now being expanded to include a wetlands area.
Plein Air – Sugartown Strawberries Produce Market
This outdoor produce market has a wonderful assortment of fall flowers and veggies. Plus it will be almost pumpkin season. In addition to the display carts, there are fields behind that make good painting subjects. Since this is a Saturday Plein Air, the market will be busy. Come a bit early and park farther away in the parking lot, leaving room for customers. And maybe carpool if possible. Again, please let us know if you’re coming. Pat (rileypat@gmail.com)
Plein Air at The Willows Park
The Willows is a beautiful park on Darby Paoli Road, Villanova. There is a pond, a little bridge to an island, and sometimes people fishing.
It is very helpful for us to have a sense of who is coming, so please let Kathy (fourbeank@aol.com) or Pat (rileypat@gmail.com) know.
Hope to see you there!
Plein Air at General Knox's Quarters Valley Forge
There's a large parking lot near General Knox's quarters in the southwest corner of Valley Forge, and it's a short walk over to the buildings, the stream and fields. The zoo is nearby as well, and porta potties are located under the Van Buren bridge by the parking area. There’s also a picnic area so you can bring your lunch.
Plein Air at Chanticleer

Plein Air Painting at the Hermitage
Betsy Miraglia has graciously offered to let us paint at her home at The Hermitage in Bryn Mawr. This beautiful site offers woods, a gazebo, a pond, and gardens. Please note the later starting time -- 11 am. We'll paint for a while and then have lunch on her back patio. Don't forget to pack your lunch!
It is important to RSVP to Kathy Apfelbaum (fourbeank@aol.com) or Pat Riley (rileypat@gmail.com). We absolutely must know who's coming to let Betsy know how many to expect.
Plein Air End of Year Exhibition
Our Plein Air Exhibition coincides with the Annual East Goshen Township Food Truck and Music Festival. It will be near the stage area of East Goshen Park. All PPS members, friends and family members (including dogs) are invited to come! There will be a variety of foods, and wine and beer for purchase, and different bands will be playing from 2:30 – 6 pm.
Plein Air at Dalton Farms for Sunflowers, Dahlias and Zinnias
Join us for a fun day painting sunflowers, goats and chickens! We will meet in the parking lot at 10 am. The staff usually have shuttles to take you to the sunflower fields. Pack a lunch and enjoy visiting with your fellow pastel painters!
Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.daltonfarms.com for $13 ($15.37 with tax and fees). Tickets purchased on day of visit are $18.
Please let Kathy Apfelbaum (fourbeank@aol.com) know if you are coming so that we have a sense of who will be there.

Plein Air - End of Season Plein Air Show and Celebration
As in years past, this is an opportunity to showcase the work we’ve done or started en plein air. Nothing need be framed and pieces started en plein air can be finished in the studio. BUT please, do not bring work that has nothing to do with our plein air season.
What’s special this year is that we will be joining with the East Goshen Arts in the Park celebration. There will be live music, food trucks, and lots of people! And hopefully some sales of our artwork!
If you are bringing paintings to exhibit, please arrive by 1:45. Thanks.
Plein Air at Laurel Hill Mansion
A gorgeous 18th century mansion located in Fairmont Park, Philadelphia. There are lovely landscaped grounds, views of the Schuylkill River and beyond! Rain date is Friday, September 30.
Plein Air at Skunk Hollow Park
We will meet at the south end of Skunk Hollow Park. (The Willows is at the north end) A quiet stream runs through this section with places to paint at the water’s edge. Or perhaps you might want to paint at the corner of Darby-Paoli Road and Sawmill Rd. if the Ardrossan Black Angus Cattle will cooperate and graze near there!
Plein Air at Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden
With stately old trees, well-tended gardens and a pergola, open meadows, and even a bog garden filled with insect-eating plants, Stoneleigh offers vistas for everyone and lots of shade. (Although, I’m hoping it will be a bit cooler because I want to paint the pitcher plants!) Stoneleigh opens at 10, and as always of course, we won’t block the paths!

Plein Air at the Audubon Center
Open fields, woods, a stream, Audubon’s house from the early 1800’s and other farm buildings all offer wonderful subjects for plein air painting. Walking and painting on the grounds is free, as is access to bathrooms in the modern visitors’ center near the large parking lot. However, there is a charge to view the interesting displays inside about Audubon himself, his painting techniques and the local plants and animals. Again, it’s helpful for us to have a sense of who’s coming. Please contact Pat Riley at rileypat@gmail.com .
Plein Air At the Lavender Farm
Beautiful fields of lavender await us for this outing. Although the farm is small, there are many great views.
Someone will be available to open the gates for the farm around 9:15. We are asked to try to carpool as the parking lot is not large. Please let Kathy (fourbeank@aol.com) or Pat (rileypat@gmail.com) know if you are planing to go.
Plein Air in Ocean City
The plan is to paint the beach and wetlands near Kathy’s house in Ocean City, NJ. Kathy’s house backs up to the wetlands and is only two blocks from the ocean. There are wonderful beach scenes and wetland views. Your choice.
Contact Kathy Apfelbaum, Fourbeank@aol.com for more details.
Plein Air At Jenkins Arboretum
Jenkins Arboretum is known for it’s spring flowering Azaleas and Rhododendrons. Keep your fingers crossed that Mother Nature cooperates and the plants are in full bloom! No matter what, Jenkins is a wonderful place to paint.
Plein Air At Valley Forge National Park
We will paint at General Knox’s Quarters off Route 252 in the southwest corner of the park. There is a large parking lot near the Quarters and it is a short walk to the painting attractions.
