The Philadelphia Pastel Society proudly announces our 2024 National Open Juried Exhibition. This is the third year we have sponsored this national show, freshly titled “Visions in Pastel” for 2024.

Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony: Sunday October 20, 2024, 2-4pm
Exhibition dates: October 19 — November 27, 2024

Our Juror of Selection has completed her work and offers these comments about the quality of work we will see at this National Open Juried Exhibition:

What a visual treat it was to jury the “Visions in Pastel” PA show!  My process is to run through the entire show to get a feel for subject and skill level, and I was so inspired at first glance.  After the initial review, my pace is deliberate and slow as I look for:  1. Accurate drawing, 2. Interesting subject matter, 3. Energy in mark-making, and  4. The Spirit of the Artist.  With these guidelines in place, I feel the show covers a broad spectrum of qualifying elements to offer a fine exhibition.  Congratulations to the accepted artists, and of course to the award-winners, and to those who submitted but did not make the selection, please try again very soon.  Each competition is an opportunity to learn from each other and to see how to improve your submissions.  The bar is set high in this show, and with careful observation of the selections, you could be in the next one!
